I would like to follow up on this conversation after the release of the SAV through HVAC Manufacturing. The application I was wanting to use the SAV with the FBVi controller was in labs that have both Supply/Exhaust Valves and are controlled by tracking airflow along with an offset to maintain room pressure. One controller on supply and one on Exhaust.
The only way that I can get this approved through a few engineers is if the controllers are able to communicate on a proprietary/Slave Bus to provide uninterrupted and fast response.
Has ABB moved forward with this ability? I would think it would be done via the Sensor Bus in a similar way as the Auto-Matrix SSB statbus.
Any feedback would be helpful for us to design and sell the upgrade for my customer.April 5, 2022 at 8:38 am #4169tburlageParticipantJeremy, I agree with you completely as I am preparing for a project where we may need to do exactly what you have done with bringing everything into one central controller.
It is a bit like reinventing the wheel since the logic has been available previously. (I was even looking into old inventory to provide this 10 zone project with NB-VAV controllers)
If ABB could give an update here with the possible feature request that would be great.March 31, 2022 at 6:30 pm #4135tburlageParticipantJeremy,
I am also bidding a number of projects that are designed for the use of Flow tracking/room pressurization (with the option of offset for positive/negative control). To us, this is an important feature. I would like to know if this is anywhere on the roadmap for a feature upgrade.
We will be creating custom strategy to accomplish this but there is currently no way to provide it without communicating between the two controllers over the main BACnet comm port when that fast response requirement has always been over a separate comm/stat bus as you mention.February 22, 2022 at 8:30 pm #3975tburlageParticipantWe have used B&B electronics
485 converter Model: 485SD9TB
USB-232 part: Belkin F5U409 (We have used others but this is one that I still have in my case)This was all that was needed with the older laptops that included serial port (Which indicates how far back we have used these)
Add any USB-Serial converter and you should be good. We haven’t used the IFC-SSB converter for a number of years and have had minimal issues. Keep us posted if this works for you.
Nice to see a discussion board utilized again! -
